Completed in August of 2009, The Dome Building is a stunning piece of architecture located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The building is the result of a collaboration between architect Jonathan Nesbitt and artist Spencer Byles, and it’s easy to see why the two men decided to work together on this project. The Dome Building is an impressive sight to behold, with its unique shape and its gorgeous copper-colored roof.

The Dome Building is home to a variety of businesses, including several restaurants and a few boutiques. Visitors can also find a number of art galleries and studios in the building. There’s something for everyone at The Dome Building, and it’s quickly become a popular tourist destination in Chattanooga. The Dome Building in Chattanooga, Tennessee is an elegant example of Italian Renaissance architecture. The building sits in the center of town, in a section of downtown Chattanooga that also features many older office buildings. This particular structure is of historical importance because it used to be a publishing plant for the Chattanooga Times. The paper moved to new quarters in 1942 and was able to preserve the structure.

One of the best attractions in the area is the “Bessie Smith Cultural Center,” a museum honoring the world-famous singer who rose from poverty to become the highest-paid African American artist in the United States before the Great Depression. Despite her tragic death, Smith was a prolific singer and songwriter. Located within the building, the museum features interactive displays about African societies, slavery, and the history of Chattanooga.

 

The Hunter Museum of American Art is located in Chattanooga, TN and is dedicated to showcasing American art from the Colonial era to the present. The museum has a permanent collection of over 10,000 pieces, as well as rotating exhibitions that change every few months.
